Eagle Creek

There is another Eagle Creek in western Oregon. This one is in northeast Oregon. It flows 41 miles from Eagle Lake in the Eagle Caps Wilderness section of the Wallowa Mountains to the Powder River near Richland. It is the lifeblood of pretty much everything in Eagle Valley. Irrigation ditches have been in place since the late 1800s and still provide precious water, for now anyway, to keep the farming community going. It's also beautiful year round and a chilly place to cool off in the summer.

Like most people in the northern hemisphere we're getting hammered with heat. I found that sitting under the air conditioner working on winter scenes helps a little. Most of these photos were from 2017, my first winter in the Pacific Northwest.

For David Martin who loves a good cup of Joe. This little campground is five miles from my house. I drove up in the dark, made some coffee, and waited for daylight to make it down to the creek.

The beautiful colors of spring can also lift the spirits a bit
