Fire Warriors

I heard sirens for the first time ever around here Monday morning, August 10th. A couple of minutes later local volunteers with water trucks were coming up my driveway as flames were coming over the ridge above my property. The next six hours were an amazing display of skilled teams who seemed so dedicated to protecting property. The six planes, two helicopters, and many firefighting crews from all over the place teamed with our local firefighters and volunteers to save all of the homes and buildings that were threatened. The firefighting crews stayed four more days to look for hotspots and prevent further problems. I'm overwhelmingly impressed, thankful, and less fearful of future fires after watching this unfold.

The big guy! This appeared to be a huge converted passenger jet. The pilot was amazing maneuvering around ridge lines in this behemoth.
